1 tablespoon unsalted butter
4 slices of thinly sliced American or cheddar cheese

If grilled cheese had a resume, it would be packed: Great Depression survivor, WWII veteran, and bar snack legend. Now, meet the grilled cheese that's not just American—it's a religious experience. Welcome to the "Holy Grill."
Prep the Bread: Lay out your slices and spread J's Shotgun Spread on one side of each slice. This is the magic touch for that golden crunch.
Heat the Skillet: Put it on medium heat and let it get nice and hot.
Butter Up: Drop half of your unsalted butter in the skillet and watch it melt.
First Layer: Place a slice of bread, spread side down, onto the melted butter.
Cheese It: Pile on your favorite cheese and give it a dash of pepper.
Top it Off: Place the second slice of bread, spread side up, on top of the cheese.
Flip Time: After about 4 minutes, or when you see that gorgeous golden brown, flip the sandwich.
More Butter, Please: Add the remaining butter to the skillet. You can never have too much.
The Final Turn: Another 4 minutes or so until you hit golden brown again.
Take a bite and enter the realm of the "Holy Grill" of grilled cheese sandwiches. Enjoy every crispy, melty, heavenly bite.
